The Dexcom article demonstrates my ability to hone in on a topic of interest for a niche audience (in this case, the diabetes community). My article is evidence I can make (what would be) technical writing understandable to a wider audience.

For this news article, I met with Dr. Rogers-Adkinson, provost, and Tom McGuire, director of media relations and content strategy, on Zoom to ask them what every Bloomsburg student, parent and faculty member had on their minds: what's going to happen in the fall? My article was the first of its kind to offer direct insight from the provost.

This informative piece incorporates some of my own designs, including visually pleasing infographics and an illustration.

The most impactful piece I've writtenCurtis L. Melville III was a remarkable member of the BU community. Unfortunately, I only know that through the testimonies of numerous people I interviewed for this tribute, as Curtis passed away in an automobile accident on his drive back to Bloomsburg one night.

I still feel myself well up with emotion when I think of this story. I'd written personal stories before, but never like this one. Curtis' death was a tragedy felt by many. In writing this, I felt the pain, too.

I never expected to get any recognition for writing this; I only wanted to make sure a student was remembered for who he was, and not just another name in a 'sad news' email from the school. After its publication, praise poured in for my capturing of Curtis' story. A member of his family even contacted me with words of gratitude. It was then I realized the true impact journalism could have.

When I exchanged messages with his relative, I was moved. That's when all my doubt faded. This is what I want to do. My words have the power to touch lives—I'm going to use them to do good. Curtis' tribute is a reason why I keep going. To positively impact even one person is a dream come true.

This is not about me; it's the story that matters. I am merely the medium by which the story is told. Curtis' story is an inspiration for my new podcast, "Rosie the Raconteur," where I aim to tell human-based stories. I only wrote about Curtis after he passed on, and I never want to make that mistake again. I will choose to honor and feature amazing humans like Curtis before their time is up, because we all deserve to be celebrated.

Thank you Curtis for the invaluable lessons you taught me. We never met—but I will never forget you or your story of a life well-lived.
