My favorite award-winning speeches and performances include:

A persuasive piece on why the eating disorder, diabulimia, should be added to the next Diagnostic Statistical Manual. Currently, 'diabulimia' is a media-coined term used to refer to an eating disorder co-occurring in a person with diabetes. It is arguably the most deadly eating disorder because those who have it restrict their insulin intake in order to lose weight, yet, it is still not universally recognized as a 'real' eating disorder. My piece aimed to spread awareness while convincing others to urge clinicians and the APA to add the term, by name, to the DSM-6.

An after-dinner speech about the rising costs of higher education and how some young women turn to sugar daddies to 'solve' the problem. My inspiration for this speech was Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal," a satirical essay suggesting, in jest, that poverty in Ireland could be alleviated by selling children to meat markets. In a similar tone, but admittedly with more obvious jokes than Swift's, I asserted sugar daddies are the way to go to finance undergraduate tuition. My speech drew attention to the unaffordability of a college degree in America and the crippling student debt crisis.

In the News

While I'm a seasoned public speaker and debater, I love speech-writing itself, too! Contact me to learn about commissions!

A poetry interpretation calling for Congress to pass gun control legislation amid an ongoing mass shootings epidemic in our schools. The program featured "America, Reloading" by Andrea Gibson, "The Chambers of a Gun" by Zin Langlois, "So Many" by Zachary Suri, and Michellina Cookington's poem, "America's Finest Crop." In this emotional piece, we hear angered responses over the lack of action American has taken.

A communication analysis of KFC's crisis management and strategic marketing campaign in response to a 2018 chicken shortage in their UK and Ireland stores. KFC embraced the slip-up, running full-page newspaper ads depicting an empty bucket—with the letters in their three-letter acronym rearranged to, well, you can guess. Sales increased and their reputation flourished as a result of what could have been fatal for the company.

To left is a celebratory photo at our post-tournament food stop. I analyzed Wendy's Twitter strategy in a communication analysis that earned a plaque!
